About Patty

Beyond the Boxes: A Note from Patty

I know that when you invite me into your home, you aren’t just showing me a cluttered closet or a messy garage. You are showing me your life.

Often, when I first meet a client, the stress has reached a breaking point. There are sometimes tears, and almost always a heavy feeling of "where do I even begin?" If that is where you are today, I want you to know two things: You are not alone, and there is no judgment here.

The Yellow House Philosophy

My husband, Tom, and I live in an 1850s farmhouse in Barnard, Vermont. Over 40 years of renovating this "yellow house," I’ve learned that a home is a living, breathing thing. It evolves. But sometimes, life moves faster than we can keep up with.

My journey into professional organizing began when I helped my parents move from their home of 50 years. I saw firsthand that this process isn't really about "stuff"—it’s about the emotional journey of transition. Whether you are downsizing for a new chapter or simply trying to breathe easier in your current space, I’m here to be your partner.

More Than Just "Tidying Up"

I don't just want to move things around; I want to help your space make sense again. My favorite part of this work is seeing a room completely emptied out, only to carefully return the items you truly want and use.

When we work together:

  • We are a team. I’ve never met a client I didn't like, and I find that after just one visit, the nerves melt away and we become a focused, supportive unit.

  • Stress relief is the goal. Organizing is a means to an end—the end being the moment you can sit down in your home and finally feel at peace.

A plan for the future. My goal is to leave you with a space that functions so well that you have a clear path forward, even after I’m gone.

From the Hudson Valley to the Backroads of Vermont

I’ve been a Vermonter for over four decades, and I still find magic in this region. One of the greatest joys of my "office" is that it takes me down backroads in Vermont and New Hampshire I might never have seen otherwise. Getting to know my neighbors—and the unique character of the houses they live in—is a privilege I never take for granted.

Whether your project is a single drawer or an entire estate, no project is too large or too small. If it matters to you, it matters to me.

Let’s turn the page together. I can’t wait to meet you.

Patty brought the practical skills and realistic expectations to my decluttering project. She was a true partner throughout the process, offering non-judgmental insights and creative solutions along the way. And to top it off, she made it fun! I give Yellow House Organizing my highest recommendation no matter your decluttering needs.

Patty and I have worked together on several occasions. She is easy to get along with, patient, collaborative and efficient. It is amazing how much you can get done in a short period of time with Patty's expertise. I have referred Yellow House Organizing to many family members and friends; everyone is astonished with their results.
